Trouser specimen

The trouser specimen is used for testing the elastomers and its determination of the tear propagation resistance with the tearing test according to ISO 34-1 [1, 2]. Besides the trouser specimen, the CT specimen is also used [3].

The tearing energy is defined for the trouser specimen [4]:

W0 energy density of the specimen
A0 fracture surface
λ elongation of the entire specimen
F force
B specimen thickness
T free surface energy per unit area.
