General information
Angle test specimens, strip-shaped or arc-shaped test specimens in accordance with ISO 34-1, and trapezoidal test specimens in accordance with DIN 53563 are used to determine the tear resistance of elastomers in tear tests. The angle specimens have a deep 90° notch, which causes a high notch effect (see: notch sensitivity) or stress concentration (see: fracture mechanics) and initiates the tear propagation process under tensile load.
