C-shaped test specimen
The C-shaped test specimen is referred to as an ‘arc-shaped specimen’ in Anglo-Saxon countries.
Test specimen shape
| Fig.: | Schematic presentation of the C-shaped test specimen |
Dimensions (according [1, 2]):
W = 2 B standard test specimen
W = 2 B to 4 B alternative test specimen
D = 0.25 W
a = 0.45 ... 0.55 W
x = 0.5 W
N = W/10 (at least 1.5 mm)
Other test specimen shapes:
| RCT | – | RCT-Specimen (disc shaped specimen) [1, 2] or also referred to as: Round test specimen according to FEDDERN and MACHERAUCH |
| CTPB | – | Pipe segment test specimen |
Determination equation
Application
- component-specific test specimen removal for thick-walled high-pressure cylinders
- plastic pipes (e.g., PVC pipes in hot water systems, where the weld line is considered a weak point (notch) [3])
