Testing
Testing means determining whether the material value determined, taking into account the measurement uncertainty, meets one or more specified requirements (tolerances or error limits). Since most modern material and quality testing methods determine measurable characteristics as values and compare them with corresponding requirements, the definition as ‘measuring test’ as opposed to ‘counting test’ makes sense.
Examples:
- Test whether the specified maximum weight of 80 kg is complied with.
- Test whether the specified minimum temperature of 35 °C is complied with.
