Peel angle


Definition of the peel angle

The peel angle θ is the angle that forms between the two peel arms during the peeling process (Fig. 1).

Dependence of the peel force on the peel angle on the PE-LD/iPB-1 peel system

The peel angle has a significant influence on the peel force in the low-density polyethylene peel system blended with isotactic polybutene-1 (abbreviation: PE-LD/iPB-1). Figure 2 shows the peel force determined from the peel force – elongation (fracture path) diagrams as a function of the peel angle for different iPB-1 contents. The peel force shows a clear dependence on the peel angle. It reaches a minimum in the range from 120° to 130° and increases steadily from 130° onwards with larger and smaller peel angles. The dependence of the peel force on the peel angle can be observed.
