The ICIT − support span method is an experimental method for recording [[Crack Resistance (R) Curve|crack resistance (R) curves]] under dynamic (impact) [[Stress|stress]], e.g. in [[Instrumented Charpy Impact Test|instrumented Charpy impact tests]] (see also: [[Impact Loading Pendulum Impact Tester|Impact loading pendulum impact tester]]).&lt;br /&gt;

==Implemantation of the Method==&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The support span method is based on a procedure whereby stable initial cracks are achieved by changing the ratio of the support span &amp;#039;&amp;#039;s&amp;#039;&amp;#039; or [[Support Distance|support distance]] to the specimen width &amp;#039;&amp;#039;W&amp;#039;&amp;#039;. The hammer energy &amp;#039;&amp;#039;E&amp;#039;&amp;#039; and the [[ICIT – Influence of Pendulum Hammer Velocity|hammer velocity]] &amp;#039;&amp;#039;v&amp;#039;&amp;#039; remain constant. The method is therefore based on varying the maximum [[Flexural Strength|bending stress]] in the centre of the test specimens by changing the ratio of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;s&amp;#039;&amp;#039;/&amp;#039;&amp;#039;W&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Fig. 1&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;).&lt;br /&gt;
