In [[Polymer Testing|polymer testing]], a conventional hardness test method (see: [[Hardness|hardness]]) refers to all methods in which characteristic [[Material Value|values]] are determined using device systems that do not have any [[Electronic Instrumentation|instrumentation]], i.e., it is not technically possible to electronically record the force and deformation behaviour (penetration depth, deflection, elongation) during the [[Stress|loading]] of a test [[Specimen|specimen]]. For this reason, these hardness testing methods usually only output one characteristic value, which may be corrected by the yield value (see: [[Tensile Test Compliance|tensile test compliance]]) of the test system.&lt;br /&gt;
